From Studio A Images…There is something about fall in Bucks County. I know I may be a little biased growing up there, but I love the colors, the cornfields and the crispness in the air. Hotel du Village in October for Nikki + Eric’s wedding was the perfect Bucks County fall day and the photos prove it. We were all in love with the corn field next to Hotel du Village and I could have made an entire blog post just of the fun we had there taking photos. It was one of the few weekends this wedding season where it didn’t rain and that allowed for their traditional Jewish wedding ceremony to take place outside as the sun set. Nikki + Eric have been together since high school (yes, they even went to prom together) and with so many years together, their families had a lot to pull from for their wedding toasts. There was only one story where I think Eric wanted to hide under the table! Their Jewish wedding wouldn’t be complete without a hora and some chair raising during the reception.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
Eric and I both really wanted to get married in the fall- we were looking for an upscale, yet comfortable vibe. We fell in love with the rooms and grounds of the Hotel Du Village- they have a beautiful french chateau surrounded by incredible grounds; perfect for a classy affair that wasn’t too stuffy.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
I must have tried on 300 dresses- when I first started, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted, so I tried on lots of different styles and shapes. I was then able to hone down on my favorite silhouettes and fabrics. When I found my Pnina Tornei dress I knew it was the one- I loved the fit, the soft beaded accents and the fact that it had nice thick straps so I wouldn’t have to worry about my dress falling down! I then found these incredible beaded shoes to match, and my mom found a hairpiece in Spain which fit perfectly with the overall look. For the reception I switched to sparkly Kate Spade Keds- which made dancing the night away lots more comfortable! Eric had his tuxedo made from scratch. We looked at dozens of fabrics and he decided on a deep navy with a subtle pattern. The benefit of having it made to measure was obvious- it fit him like a glove and he could still dance up a storm in it. He paired it with matte tuxedo lace up shoes and the watch I gave him on the morning of the wedding.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
I wanted the showcase of the decor to be a warm, glowing light- so we decorated with hundreds of candles and warm fall tones- gold, burgundies, creams and oranges. We had the most amazing chuppah that was decorated with an awesome asymmetric floral arrangement. One of my favorite additions was a cream table cloth with a slight shimmer to it- it picked up the lights from the candles and really elevated the space.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
We had bridal bouquets, several different types of centerpieces and a chuppah. The flowers were lovely, but on a smaller scale- I wanted the candles and lanterns to really take center stage. Ultimately, I think they did a beautiful job softening our look.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
I think there are two things that really make weddings shine- music and food. We had a terrific jazz band for the cocktail hour, which really set the tone for the evening. And then we served a ton of food- my favorite was a grilled cheese and tomato soup station with 3 different types o sandwiches; my husband’s favorite was the mozzarella stick and chicken fingers station we had to end the night. We also had a cappuccino bar- which the guests loved!
