We must admit, we love a beautiful waterside celebration. Whether exchanging vows as the waves crash in the background, having fun on one of the infamous boardwalks with your bridal party, or taking photos with the sand between your toes, there’s just something about seaside weddings that gets us every single time. With the Jersey shore right in our backyard, it’s no wonder why so many couples choose to get married at a coastal locale that offers some of the most picturesque backdrops! Captured by Expressive Image Photography, Lindsey and Michael’s charming purple wedding at The Channel Club will have you dreaming of a little seaside getaway.
Although Lindsey was torn between two bridal gowns during her appointment at Kleinfeld, she immediately was able to see herself standing at the altar when she tried on a sweetheart strapless, fit-to-flare gown embellished with lace and Swarovski crystals for a second time. After saying “yes to the dress,” Lindsey, along with her mother and mother-in-law, began to cry, making her gown experience a special moment.
Lindsey and Michael decided to have their first look before the ceremony so they could make the most out of their time and take pictures on the Point Pleasant beach and Jenkinson’s Boarkwalk. Like a scene from West Side Story, the groomsmen stood in front of Michael and the bridesmaids in front of Lindsey. They counted to three and all at once the bridal party moved to the side for the bride and groom’s big reveal. “It was such a magical moment,” revealed Lindsey.
When the couple began discussing what type of wedding they wanted to have, they both decided on an outdoor ceremony and a facility overlooking the water. Having worked every summer as a dock attendant when he was younger, Michael immediately thought of The Channel Club. Upon visiting the facility for the first time, Lindsey loved the panoramic views and was able to vision what their wedding day was going to look like that instant.
The Proposal: It was February 12, 2012 and we were going out to dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. He was very calm, and normal during dinner. He ordered and expensive bottle of wine to go with our meals, I just thought he was trying to make our date extra special. After dinner was done, Mike pulled his chair over towards me, at this point I thought he had ordered a fancy desert. He sat very close to me and said some of the nicest, and kindest things. He followed that with a box and the words “Will You Marry Me?” I was so shocked, I started hyperventilating. I finally got out the words “Of course I’ll marry you”. We left the restaurant and went back to his apartment where he had his parents and brother, and my mother, sisters and brother in law waiting for us with champagne. When I saw them all inside I burst out into tears. It was one of the best days of my life.
Bride & Groom’s favorite memory of the day: Seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day was both Lindsey and Michael’s favorite memory. “We planned for so long and we just couldn’t wait to see how each other was going to look,” they mentioned.
Do you have any advice for couples that are planning their wedding? “It’s your wedding, do what you want! People are always going to add their opinion, or give you their “Advice” on things. At the end of it all, it’s a day that is all about you and your significant other. Try and enjoy the whole planning process. It gets very stressful, especially as the day gets closer. Just keep in mind that it will be the best day of your life!”
