What happens when an adorable couple falls in love and plans a celebration with understated elegance? A dream come true, of course! The stars were perfectly aligned for this garden wedding at the Shadowbrook. Every little detail is more beautiful than the last with a beautiful color palette and charming elements all amid a stunning New Jersey location. It’s safe to say we’re in love with every single image (especially the horse drawn carriage) captured by Jenifer Rutherford Photography.
After seeing pictures on Facebook from a wedding that was held at the Shadowbrook, Sarah immediately knew it was the perfect facility for them. Set on 20 acres of secluded gardens, the Shadowbrook offered the classic elegance that Sarah and David were looking for. As guests arrived for the couple’s wedding by way of the long, tree-lined driveway, throughout the romantic ceremony and incredible reception, Sarah and David’s wedding truly was a fairy tale. “The staff was helpful and everyone that was at our wedding continues to talk about how much they liked the venue,” David noted.
The Proposal: David proposed during an alumni weekend when we were back at Lehigh. He took me in a limo to the top of a mountain (which we attempted to hike while at overlooking the campus and proposed in the pouring rain. It was great because our parents and friends were there to celebrate with us after our engagement.
Bride’s favorite memory of the day: The band played “Piano Man” as our last song. Dave and I danced in the middle of the dance floor while all of our friends and family formed a circle around us. It was amazing to the most important people in our lives in one room together.
Groom’s favorite memory of the day: Our first look.
Advice for engaged couples who are planning their wedding: Make it a priority to spend time with your fiancé and NOT talk about the wedding. You need to realize that the wedding is just a day, but you will be with your fiancé forever. It’s important to not get caught up in the wedding planning and forget what the day is truly about.
