Lindsey & Philip’s Romantic Wedding at The Estate at Florentine Gardens

Who doesn’t love a little romance and a beautiful wedding to start off their week on an oh-so-pretty note? We quickly fell in love with this romantic fête for its simplicity and softness of each photograph captured by Andres Valenzuela Photography. Add in perfect weather with the most beautiful peonies, personal touches, and a beautiful facility to  host the event, and you achieve wedding perfection.

“My something blue was very special. Phil’s father passed away, so we wanted to include him somehow, someway in our wedding.  He was a police officer, so we took his blue detective pin and pinned in onto my bouquet, so he was with us the whole night!  My other something blue was my grandma’s ring that I wore on my right hand.”

“What a pleasure it was to work with AVP. I’ve known Andres for a couple of years now (I actually did his wife’s makeup for their wedding), so he was the first person I thought of to photograph our wedding. Not only does Andres take the most beautiful pictures, but he is so easy to be around too! I love his style of photography because it’s very casual and candid, but he also incorporated “posed” shots too.  Andres captured the most memorable, beautiful moments from our wedding day.”

During the Lindsey and Philip’s outdoor ceremony at The Estate at Florentine Gardens, the couple incorporated the groom’s heritage with Irish bagpiper, who greeted all guests as they arrived. They also chose to write and exchange their own vows.

“One detail I put a lot of thought and time into were the escort cards. I didn’t want to have the typical folded cards on a table, so my mom and I made all different Victorian looking hat pins and pinned each card to a [Vintage] frame. It was a nice project to do with my mom!”

The Proposal: It was December 21, 2010…Phil and I were on our way into NYC to go see a show- a tradition Phil started a few years back.  After the show, we went to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree. I took a picture of the tree, turned around and he was on one knee holding a ring! He said, “Lindsey Rey, will you marry me?” Phil likes to joke around, so this wasn’t the first time he “proposed” to me, not even the second time! So naturally, I thought he was joking again! I’m pretty sure I said something like “Phil, get up…you’re embarrassing me!  If this is for real, then where is the box for that ring?” He didn’t have the box, but the look on his face was something I’ll never forget. Right then, I knew it was for real and I was in complete shock!
Bride’s favorite memory of the day: My first memory of the day was being woken up by a text message from Phil with the music “here comes the bride” playing…it was so sweet! That was definitely one of my favorite memories, but also seeing him for the first time that day (obviously)!
Groom’s favorite memory of the day: Our first look.
What was the most exciting part of planning your wedding? For me, it was getting to plan my wedding with my sister while she planned hers. We’re probably crazy for planning our weddings only three months apart from each other, but it made the process fun and exciting!
Do you have any advice for couples that are planning their wedding? I know the whole process is so stressful, but just try to enjoy it because it will all come together in the end.  You’ll finally be able to appreciate all of your hard work!
What are you currently or looking forward to as a couple? I’m looking forward to buying a house, starting traditions and having some babies!
