Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but the love continues this week for all of our Contemporary Bride readers. Melissa and Mike are about to warm your hearts this Monday afternoon with their beautiful engagement session captured by Laura Bruen Photography. Over the years, Hoboken has become a favorite location for engagement and wedding photography and for good reasons. This iconic city is known for it’s vibrant nightlife, views of the Manhattan skyline, cobblestone streets, and rich history that makes Hoboken so special. Every photo brilliantly captures the love this adorable couple shares and their super sweet engagement story is one you don’t want to miss!
From Melissa…”Despite the fact that we both moved to Hoboken in 2006, it took us six years before our paths would cross. We first met at a favorite bar in Hoboken, Mulligans, shouting across the music, and shortly after we became inseparable. Mike’s kitchen had been under construction for a couple of months and we were eagerly awaiting the permits, so we could cook for the first time in the brand new kitchen. Mike set up a plan to cook on Friday, so I spent the day running around getting all the ingredients to make pizza from scratch. Not knowing the significance of what was going on, I decided to take a nap and rest up. Mike got home from work early, and had everything set up. After I finally woke up, showered and got ready, I headed over to Mike’s apartment. (Only I could be late for my own engagement!) As we got ready to cook, I realized we were missing the pizza stone. Mike nonchalantly told me that I could find it inside the oven. I opened the oven door, and there, sitting on the pizza stone, was my beautiful engagement ring. After dating nearly two years, and our love story taking place primarily in Hoboken, we knew our engagement pictures should take place where it all began, in the town we both love so much. With stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, and so much character, we knew we had a beautiful backdrop in our own backyard. We are so glad that we did our engagement session because it gave us an opportunity to get to know our photographer, Laura Bruen, better, and by the end of the day she had us laughing, and was able to capture moments that really expressed who we are, and how much we love one another.”
