Tell us a little background information about Clarks Landing Yacht Club.
Clarks Landing has actually been around for over 150 years. It was always geared for family entertainment; sailing, fishing, row boats, swimming, dance hall, summer bungalows and a steam powered merry-go-round. In this tradition, we have continued with an exclusive wedding venue.
How many years has Clarks Landing Yacht Club been hosting weddings?
This August will mark our 6 year anniversary of hosting weddings and a count of over 1000 weddings hosted! But we also own other catering venues that have been in business for over 30 years.
What attracts couples to Clarks Landing Yacht Club?
The proximity to the water and magnificent views of the Manasquan River and it’s sunsets appeal to couples that have a dream of a beach-themed or waterfront wedding. Once they are here though, they see the exquisitely designed and decorated lobby, cocktail hour room and ballroom and see that it’s something special. But once they meet our endearing sales staff and see all the services we offer to them, they become our forever friends, sharing anniversaries, babies, new homes and other milestones in their new lives.
What sets you apart from other banquet facilities?
We strive to create the ambiance, food and service of a fine restaurant and translate that to our banquet hall. We feature one server for every table of guests for a totally immersed experience with your own server. We offer a lot of personal services to our couples that a wedding planner would do normally.
What menu options are available for weddings? Do you have any tips you would like to share when it comes time for couples to choose their wedding menu?
Most weddings are the traditional type with a lavish cocktail hour, than a multiple course sit down dinner, followed by dessert and wedding cake. Some couples are opting for a cocktail wedding, with the entire time spent having cocktail style, fork-friendly food without the formality of a sit down dinner. Although some believe you should have the meal of a lifetime at your wedding, many times the couple doesn’t let themselves enjoy it because there is so much going on. Keep it simple, with foods that your friends and family will enjoy and accept. Avoid strongly ethnic foods, because why serve food at your wedding that your mother, grandmother or aunt can cook every day? Why invite comparison and criticism?
Do you offer outdoor weddings? / Do you offer an on-site ceremony location? Where can couples exchange vows on the Clarks Landing Yacht Club property?
Yes. Couples can exchange vows outside under our beautiful pergola overlooking the Manasquan River, which is also open to guests during the cocktail hour if they want to go outside. Brides and Grooms also have the option to tie the knot in the ballroom offering expansive water views. We set it up like a chapel and then reset the room for the reception while everyone is in our Riverview Room during cocktail hour.
What should all couples ask potential banquet facilities before booking?
They should ask to meet the maître d’ or the person that will be running their wedding. What good is a strong relationship between the couple and an office sales person if they are not going to be with them on their wedding day? Ask what the contingency plan is if there is a power outage or any kind of emergency. Also be clear about the cancellation policy to avoid hard feelings and legal issues of anything goes wrong.
