When Danica and Alex began planning their wedding, they both agreed they didn’t want a traditional wedding. After traveling to Aruba for vacation, the two fell in love with the island and immediately knew this pristine locale would be the perfect setting for their destination wedding. They kicked off their destination wedding by hosting a tour aboard the KuKoo Kunuku party bus the first day guests arrived in Aruba. “This was a great way for all our guests to get to know each other and start the week off with great spirits,” shared Danica.
“Our ceremony was very short and sweet,” shared Danica. The two exchanged heartfelt vows during an intimate beach ceremony at sunset in front of 45 of their family and friends.
The Proposal: Alex proposed in April 2012 while we were vacationing in London. We went out to dinner with our friends and after dinner we walked to St. James’ park where he got down on one knee. My girl friend was taking pictures of the entire proposal and I was in complete shock. I knew he was the one when I couldn’t go a day without missing him or wanting to see him.
Bride’s favorite memory of the day: My favorite memory of the day was when Alex and I took a moment to step away from the dance floor and stand underneath one of the palm tree huts. We took a few moments to ourselves to look at all of the people who came to Aruba just for us and I felt such an overwhelming feeling of love and joy. Seeing everyone on the dance floor at OUR wedding having such a great time was an amazing feeling.
Groom’s favorite memory of the day: Watching Danica walk down the aisle after not seeing her since the night before was Alex’s favorite memory of the wedding day.
Advice for engaged couples who are planning their wedding: Don’t listen to anybody’s opinions about your wedding day and why you would choose to have a destination wedding. At the end of it all the day is supposed to be about you and the groom and what makes you happy.
